RESIDENTIAL TECHNICIAN (PT) - Hope House (ICF), Lacrosse

Southside Community Services Board’s (SCSB) Intellectual Disabilities Department seeks a qualified individual for its residential facility, Hope House in LaCrosse, Virginia, which serves severely intellectually disabled individuals in Mecklenburg/Brunswick Counties.  Incumbents assist in providing instruction, training, and supervision of adult individuals in the areas of functional academics, daily living skills, personal hygiene/toileting needs, communication, and community interaction skills.  Assists in behavior modification and intervention and implements individual service plans.  Ensures medication compliance, maintains accurate daily documentation to ensure all regulatory guidelines are met, and enters data into agency’s electronic health records system.  Transports individuals served to various functions, as needed.  MUST BE WILLING TO WORK SHIFTS, HOLIDAYS AND WEEKENDS AS REQUIRED.  ONLY THOSE WITH A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE AND SAFE DRIVING RECORD NEED APPLY.

High school graduate/GED minimum with prior work experience with the intellectually disabled required; Associate’s degree in human services field or CNA preferred along with knowledge of behavior modification and intervention techniques.  Must be adaptable to a variety of situations, possess basic computer and effective communication/documentation skills and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.  Must have all Board mandated trainings (or be trained after hire) and meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.

Associate’s degree in a human services field preferred; high school graduate/GED minimum. Must possess ability to deal with a difficult population, have effective/accurate communication and documentation skills, and maintain strict confidentiality. Must have, or be trained after hire, for all mandatory trainings (CPR, First Aid, medication, etc.). Criminal record check (fingerprinting) and drug test required.

PART-TIME COMMUNITY SUPPORT AIDE - Lawrenceville, VA

SCSB has part-time vacancy in its psychosocial day program in Lawrenceville, VA to provide direct care services for the mentally disabled in Mecklenburg/Brunswick Counties.

Incumbent assists full-time staff in consumer instruction/supervision in ADL’s, prevocational, social, and independent living skills; supervises work/educational units, implements individual service plans, assesses client progress and assists with medication to ensure compliance; enters data in agency’s EHR software system and maintains accurate documentation as required by state licensing regulations. Transports clients in agency vehicles as assigned. Associate’s degree in a human services field with one year experience providing direct care to mentally ill individuals preferred. Basic computer skills, ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and effective documentation/communication skills required. Must have all mandatory trainings (or be trained after hire), valid driver’s license with safe driving record, and meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.

 

 

ID/DD DAY SUPPORT SPECIALIST - South Hill

Southside Community Services Board (SCSB) has full-time position in its Intellectual Disabilities Services day program (John H. Northington Center) in South Hill, Virginia.  Major area of responsibility involves supervision, instruction and support of adult individuals with diagnosis of mental disabilities in areas of community living, communication and socialization skills, personal care/hygiene tasks, skill development and support in positive behavior and peer interaction.  Incumbent implements person-centered plans, monitors medication, maintains accurate and timely documentation records such as progress notes, monthly reports, and quarterly reviews that meet all state and federal requirements and enters data into agency’s electronic health records system. Transports individuals as required.

A degree in a human services field as well as direct care experience working with intellectually disabled individuals preferred as well as knowledge of behavior modification and intervention techniques for target population.  Must have prior experience working with handicapped/disabled individuals, basic computer, communication/documentation skills, ability to adapt to a variety of situations and maintain strict confidentiality.  Only those with a valid driver's license with safe driving record need apply.  Must have all position required trainings (or be trained after hire) and meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.

Community Support Specialist - South Hill, VA

Southside Community Services Board is seeking a qualified individual for its Community Support Program located in South Hill, VA., providing direct services to individuals with disabilities in Mecklenburg/Brunswick Counties. Residential Support Services Personnel, Part time Marc Manor

Southside Community Services Board is seeking part time residential support personnel in our Mecklenburg County group home.  Residential support personnel provide assistance to individuals with intellectual disabilities in a group home setting or day support program setting.  Assistance includes daily living skills, social and communication skills, transporting individuals for community activities, etc. 

Must be willing to work weekends and shift work and up to 28 hours per week.  High school diploma or equivalent with valid driver’s license is required.  Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities would be an advantage.  Must be able to complete required first aid/CPR training and other mandatory trainings (provided by Southside CSB).

Group Home Counselor, Part Time Ashley Manor, LaCrosse, VA

 

Southside Community Services Board is seeking a part-time Group Home Counselor for a group home in South Hill, VA.  This position provides assistance to individuals with intellectual disabilities in the home.  Assistance includes daily living skills, social and communication skills, transporting individuals for community activities, etc.

Access Clinician South Boston, VA

 

Southside Community Services seeks an Access Clinician to handle mental health, intellectual disability and substance abuse emergencies at the Crisis Assessment Center during the open hours of the Center, which includes evenings and weekends.  This clinician will provide crisis pre-screening for voluntary hospital admissions and involuntary commitment, crisis intervention with individuals and families who are having difficulty, obtain placement for hospitalization following protocol, and provide information and referrals for individuals seeking information.  Communication with clients, other clinicians, hospital staff, and other human service agencies is critical to this position.  The ability to properly document information into an electronic health records system per protocol is also extremely important.

Master’s Degree in counseling, social work or rehabilitative counseling with previous work experience providing mental health and/or substance abuse counseling is required.  Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker is preferred.  Crisis intervention experience also preferred.

Completion of Certified Pre-Screener training by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is required.

Part Time Emergency Services Back-up Workers - Halifax, Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties, Virginia

 

This part time position handles mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse emergencies occurring after normal working hours for Southside Community Services Board. Duties include prescreening for involuntary commitments, providing information and referrals to individuals seeking information, crisis intervention and psychiatric assistance to hospitals, jails or other human services agencies.

The emergency services worker must be willing to provide coverage 1 to 2 days per week, generally one weekend per month and additional days as needed.

Masters Degree in counseling, social work or rehabilitative counseling in required.  Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Certification Training is required.
